SYMPTOMS AND SIGNS OF ACETONEMIA:
The symptoms and signs of acetonemia (ketosis) usually appear a few days, to a few weeks after calving. They include loss of appetite, constipation, mucus-covered feces, depression, a staring expression, and rapid weight loss, a drop in milk production, uncoordinated movements, and general paralysis.
While most cases show an unnatural drowsiness, a few become highly excitable. Respiration is shallow and there is an acetone odor (sweet rose smell) in the breath.
Administer 4 ounces at calving and continue daily for 6 weeks.
Administer 8 ounces of Ketosis Kurb twice daily for 4 days. Use as a drench or mix with feed.
