Directions For Use
DO NOT USE FULL STRENGTH. Read and follow label carefully. Dilute according to directions below. For best results, use this product as part of a complete hoof care program.
Footbath dilutions are intended for use on 200 cows, after which it is recommended that the footbath solution be discarded and replaced with a fresh Double-Action footbath solution. Mix thoroughly 1 Liter of Double-Action hoof care with every 49 Liters (or 1 Gallon for 49 Gallons) of water used in the footbath, or 200 mL of Double-Action hoof care with every 10 Liters (or 25.6 Ounces every 10 Gallons) of water used in the footbath.
If footbath capacity is unknown, use the following formula:
Inside Length (inches) x Inside Width x Fluid Height ÷ 231 = Gallon Capacity of Footbath.
Multiply this result by 3.8 to get capacity in liters (or if internal size measured in cm: L x W x H ÷ 1000)
Cows should be exposed to Double-Action footbaths as outlined in chart below:
DAIRY HOUSING CONDITIONS
PREVALENCE OF POOR HOOF CONDITION
FOOTBATH EXPOSURE RATE
Heavily soiled conditions
2 times per day for 7 consecutive days
NOTE: This exposure rate is recommended for crowded housing conditions.
Moderately soiled conditions
MEDIUM TO HIGH PREVALENCE
2 times per day for 5 consecutive days
Good housing conditions
LOW TO MEDIUM PREVALENCE
2 times per day for 3 consecutive days
NOTE: This exposure rate is recommended for hoof maintenance.
Before milking, rinse hooves thoroughly with water to remove mud and manure. After a spray-on solution of Double-Action has been prepared, thoroughly saturate each hoof and heel of the cow with the solution. Repeat 2 times per day for 14 days or as needed. More frequent applications may be required. For spray bottle application, mix 1.5 Ounces (44.4 mL) of Double-Action per quart (0.95L) of water used. For garden-type sprayers, mix 6.5 Ounces (192.2 mL) of Double-Action per gallon (3.8L) of water used. Should solution become contaminated, discard and prepare a fresh Double-Action spray-on solution.
Read and follow the label instructions as directed. For optimum hoof health, footbathing should occur on a weekly basis year round. After the initial application has been completed as directed above, evaluate cows for hoof health. Begin a Double-Action maintenance footbathing program of 3 footbaths (minimum) per week or as needed. Exposure of footbaths should be increased if heifers or purchased cows continually enter the milking herd, or during times of inclement weather. Switch to spray application if freezing temperatures restrict use of footbaths.
STORAGE AND DISPOSAL:
THOROUGHLY RINSE ALL MEASURING DEVICES AND STORE OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Store in cool, dry place. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. Avoid contact with food. Do not reuse empty container. Rinse empty container before disposing in a safe manner. If Double-Action concentrate freezes, thaw in a warm room, and shake or agitate well before use. If mixed Double-Action solution should become contaminated or freezes, discard and prepare a fresh Double-Action solution.
