Read all of this leaflet carefully because it contains
important information for you.
This medicine is available without prescription. However, you
still need to take Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges carefully to
get the best results from them.

– Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it again.
– Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you need more information
or advice.
– You must contact a doctor if your symptoms worsen or persist
for more than 7 days.
– If any of the side effects become serious, please tell your
doctor or pharmacist.

what they are used for

2. Before you take Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges

hernia (stomach acid reflux and pain similar to heartburn in
the chest and upper stomach)
• suffer from inflamed and ulcerated conditions of the
gastrointestinal tract (stomach and intestines)
Taking other medicines
Please consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking
other medicines containing similar ingredients.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this
product if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
Driving and using machines
Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges have no effect on the
ability to drive or operate machinery.
Important information about some of the ingredients
of Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges:
Each lozenge contains 3.5g of sugar (as sucrose and
glucose liquid). This should be taken into account if
you are diabetic.
If you have been told by your doctor that you have an
intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before
taking this medicinal product.

Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges contain three active
ingredients:
• Menthol

T Eucalyptus oil
• Camphor
T

Taking Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges helps stimulate
T the lining of the throat to increase the amount of saliva
produced. This helps soothe an irritated, sore or dry throat
T and relieves coughs caused by an irritated throat. They
W also have a mild decongestant action which helps to
unblock your nose.

3. How to take Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges
Always take Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges exactly as
your doctor or pharmacist has told you; check with them
if you are not sure about anything.

Do not take Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges if you:
• are allergic to any of the above listed actives or other
ingredients (see section 6)
• have inflammation of the bile duct caused by an
obstruction or a bacterial infection, a condition known
as cholangitis
• have problems with the production of gastric acid in the
stomach, a condition known as achlorhydria
• have gallstones usually caused when your bile contains
too much cholesterol
• have liver disease or any other conditions associated with
the gallbladder, bile ducts and/or bile
Do not give Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges to
children under 6 years of age.
Take special care with Vicks Soothing Cough
Lozenges
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this
medicine if you:
• are diabetic or have difficulty digesting some sugars
• suffer from heartburn or a condition known as hiatal

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges may
cause side effects, although these are rare and not
everybody gets them.

Dosage
This medicine is a lozenge for oral use. Do not chew or
swallow whole. You should not eat or drink while a
lozenge is in the mouth.

Very rare (occurs in less than 1 in 10,000 patients)
• stomach pains
• feeling and/or being sick
• diarrhoea

Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years:
2-3 lozenges sucked slowly one after the other. Repeat
the dose every hour as required. Do not take more than
18 lozenges in 24 hours.

This medicine contains menthol which may cause an
allergic reaction in some people, symptoms may include:
• rash, nettle-like rash and itching

Children 6-12 years: 2 lozenges sucked slowly one after
the other. Repeat the dose every hour as required.
Do not take more than 12 lozenges in 24 hours.
Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years
of age.
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, speak to your
doctor or pharmacist.
If you take more Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges
than you should
Seek medical advice immediately if you accidentally
take more lozenges than you should.
If you forget to take Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges
If you accidently miss a dose, do not take a double dose;
just take the next dose as normal.
If you have any further questions on the use of this
product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

If any side effects you experience become serious,
please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. How to store Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Store below 25°C.
Do not take Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges after the
expiry date which is printed on the blister pack or carton.
The expiry date refers to the last day of the month stated.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or
household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of
medicines no longer required. These measures will help to
protect the environment.

What Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges contain
Each lozenge of this medicine provides the active
ingredients: Menthol 7.035mg, Eucalyptus oil 2.343mg,
Camphor 0.235mg.

The other ingredients are: Sucrose, glucose liquid, purified
water, benzyl alcohol, thymol, caramel E150c, simethicone
emulsion, hydrogenated vegetable oil, calcium carbonate,
lecithin, carnuba wax, talc.
What Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges look like and
contents of the pack
Vicks Soothing Cough Lozenges are amber, disc-shaped
lozenges. The lozenges are packed in a blister strip in a carton
box. The product is supplied in cartons of 12 and 18 lozenges.
