Harmful for those suffering from
alcoholism. This medicinal product
contains 7.2 vol% ethanol (alcohol),
i.e. up to 568 mg per 10ml dose,
equivalent to 14.1ml of beer or 6ml of
wine per 10ml dose.
To be taken into account by patients on a
controlled sodium diet, this medicinal
product contains 33mg of sodium per
10ml dose.
May cause allergic reactions, contains
amaranth (E123), contains methyl
hydoxybenzoate (E218), may cause allergic
reactions (possibly delayed).
May have a laxative effect, contains
sorbitol (E420) with calorific value of
2.6 kcal/g sorbitol.

Do not use:
If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any
of the other ingredients of Asda Strong
Expectorant Cough Liquid.
If you are breast-feeding or if you have liver or
kidney problems.
If you are taking medicines for depression such
as tranyl-cypromine, phenelzine or isocarboxazid
or within 14 days of stopping taking these
medicines.
Do not use in children under 6 years of age.
Do not take if you are pregnant.
Talk to your doctor before use if:
Suffering from a chronic or persistent cough,
if you have asthma, suffering from acute asthma
attack, or where cough is accompanied by
excessive secretions.
• Suffering from enlarged prostate, urinary retention,
angle-closure (glaucoma)
You have an intolerance to some sugars
Do not use to sedate a child
Interaction with other medicines
There is an increased risk of side-effects such as
dry mouth, blurred vision, or difficulty passing
urine if this medicine is taken with: medicines for
Parkinson's e.g. procyclidine, orphenadrine,
trihexiphenidyl; antipsychotics
e.g. chlorpromazine, clozapine, thioridazine;
antispasmodics e.g. atropine, propantheline;
tricyclic antidepressants
e.g. amitriptyline, clomipramine.
There is an increased risk of drowsiness if this
medicine is taken with any of the following:
alcohol; antipsychotics e.g. chlorpromazine;
barbiturates e.g. phenobarbital; anxiety
medicines e.g. diazepam, temazepam;
sleeping tablets e.g. zopiclone; strong painkillers
e.g. morphine, codeine.

Adults and children over 12 years:
Take one or two 5ml spoonfuls
(5ml to 10ml) every two or three hours.
Children from 6 to 12 years:
Take one 5ml spoonful every three or
four hours.
Not to be used on children for more
than 5 days without the advice of a doctor.
Medical attention should be sought if
the child's condition deteriorates during
treatment.
Do not give to children under 6 years.
If you accidentally take too much contact
your nearest hospital.

Storage
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not store above 25°C.
Store in the original container.

DRIVE OR OPERATE MACHINERY.
AVOID ALCOHOLIC DRINK.
If you notice these or any other sideeffects, stop using the product and consult
your doctor or pharmacist.
Common side-effects
Drowsiness (usually diminishes within a
few days), excitation, headache,
movement (coordination) disorder,
urinary retention, dry mouth, blurred
vision, stomach upset, thickened chest
mucous.
Rare side-effects
Low blood pressure, involuntary muscle
spasm, dizziness, confusion, depression,
sleep disturbances, tremor, fits,
palpitation, irregular heartbeat, allergy
reactions, blood disorders and liver
dysfunction.

About this product
Asda Strong Expectorant Cough Liquid is taken to relieve symptoms associated with upper chest
infections.

Dosage
Do not take if you allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of Asda Strong
Expectorant Cough Liquid.
Adults: Take one or two 5ml spoonfuls (5ml to 10ml) every two or three hours.
Children from 6 to 12 years - Take one 5ml spoonful every three or four hours. Do not give to
children under 6 years. Not to be used on children for more than 5 days without the advice of a
doctor. Medical attention should be sought if the child’s condition deteriorates during treatment.
Do not exceed the stated dose.
If you accidentally take too much contact your nearest hospital.

Warnings
Do not use to sedate a child. Ask a doctor before use if you are suffering from chronic, persistent
