Tussabron Syrup
About this product
Tussabron Syrup is taken to treat dry unproductive, irritating coughs.
Warnings
Do not use:
• If you are allergic to dextromethorphan, propylene glycol or any other ingredients.
• If you have liver disease or if you are at risk of respiratory failure.
• If you are taking selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
Not to be used in patients taking medications for depression, psychiatric or emotional
conditions, Parkinson's disease, monoamine inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping
treatment.
Ask a doctor before use if suffering from a chronic or persistent cough, if you have
asthma, suffering from acute asthma attack or where the cough is accompanied by
excessive secretions.
Do not take with any other cough or cold medicine.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or if you are taking any prescribed medicines. The following medicines in
particular (or similar) should be borne in mind; quinidine, amiodarone, flecainide and
propafenone, sertraline, bupropion, methadone, cinacalcet, haloperidol, perphenazine and
thioridazine.
Driving and using machines:
The medicine can affect your ability to drive as it may make you sleepy or dizzy.
• Do not drive while taking this medicine until you know how it affects you.
• It may be an offence to drive when taking this medicine.
• However, you would not be committing an offence if:
- The medicine has been taken to treat a medical problem and
- You have taken it according to the information provided with the medicine and
- It was not affecting your ability to drive safely
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure whether it is safe for you to drive
while taking this medicine.

Further Warnings
The use of dextromethorphan with alcohol or other CNS depressants may increase the
effects on the CNS and cause toxicity in relatively small doses.
Caution is particularly recommended for adolescents and young adults as well as
inpatients with a history of drug abuse or psychoactive substances.
Contains E420 (Sorbitol) - if you have been told by your doctor that you have an
intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before using this medicinal product.
Contains 3.6g of glucose per 10ml dose. This should be taken into account in patients
with diabetes mellitus.
Contains E124 (Ponceau R Red) - may cause allergic reactions.

Dosage Form: Oral Solution

Dosage
Liquid for oral use.
Adults and children over 12 years: Take two 5 ml spoonfuls (10ml) up to four times daily.
Children from 6-12 years: Take one 5ml spoonful, up to four times daily. Not to be used
for more than 5 days without the advice of a doctor. Medical attention should be sought
if the child's condition deteriorates during treatment.
Not recommended for use in children under 6 years.

Side Effects
CAUTION: THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DROWSINESS, IF AFFECTED, DO NOT
DRIVE OR OPERATE MACHINERY. AVOID ALCOHOLIC DRINK.
Side effects are rare but may include nausea, vomiting, stomach ache, dizziness,
drowsiness, excitation, mental confusion, convulsions, problems breathing, diarrhoea and
skin reactions including rash. If you notice these or any other side effects, stop using
the product and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Reporting of side effects: If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist
or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in the package leaflet. You
can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at
www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard. By reporting side effects you can help provide more
information on the safety of this medicine.

Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 10mg per 5ml.

Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 10mg per 5ml, Glucose, Propylene Glycol, E420
(Sorbitol), Menthol, Orange Flavouring, E124 (Ponceau R Red), E954 (Saccharin Sodium),
E330 (Citric Acid) and Purified Water.
Storage
Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not store above 25°C.
Store in the original container.
