Cold and Flu Relief Powder for Oral Solution

Isatis root dry extract
• if you are allergic to medicines that
treat type 2 diabetes (sulfonylureas)
or certain antibiotics
(sulfonamides).
• if you are under 18 years of age.

Read all of this leaflet carefully
before you start taking this
medicine because it contains
important information for you.
Always take this medicine exactly
as described in this leaflet or as your
doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- Keep this leaflet. You may need to
read it again.
- Ask your pharmacist or qualified
healthcare practitioner if you need
more information or advice.
- If you get any side effects, talk to
your doctor or qualified healthcare
practitioner. This includes any
possible side effects not listed in
this leaflet. See section 4.

if you feel worse, or if you do not
feel better after 10 days.

1. What this medicine is and what
it is used for
Phynova Cold and flu Relief
Powder for Oral Solution is a
traditional herbal medicine product.
The active ingredient is extracted
from the root of the plant Isatis
tinctoria L.
It is used to relieve symptoms
of the common cold, mild upper
respiratory tract infections and
flu-like illness; such as sore
throat, based on traditional use
only.
2. What you need to know before
you take this medicine
Do not take this medicine
• if you are allergic to the active
ingredient or any plants of the
Cruciferae family (e.g. broccoli,
cabbage, cauliflower, kale,
turnip, radish etc.) or any of the
other ingredients of this medicine
(listed in section 6).
• if you are allergic to aspirin
or other non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
NSAIDs reduce pain and
inflammation.

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or qualified
healthcare practitioner before
taking this medicine:
• if you are due to have an
operation. You must stop
taking this medicine at least two
weeks beforehand
• if you are taking medicines to
help thin your blood e.g.
antiplatelet medicines (such as
clopidogrel); anticoagulants
(such as warfarin,
acenocoumarol, phenindione
apixaban, edoxaban, dabigatran,
rivaroxaban, heparin,
dalteparin, enoxaparin and
tinzaparin);
• if you are taking antiinflammatory medicines
(NSAIDs such as ibuprofen,
aspirin and naproxen)
If you get a high fever while taking
this medicine or if your symptoms
worsen, or do not improve after 10
days, talk to your doctor or
qualified healthcare practitioner.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant
or are planning to have a baby you
should not use this medicine.
3. How to take this medicine
Always take this medicine exactly
as described in this leaflet. Check
with your doctor or qualified
healthcare practitioner if you are
not sure.
Dosage
Start at first signs of a cold or flu.
Adults and the elderly:
- One sachet every 4-6 hours.
- Do not take more than 3 sachets
in 24 hours.
- Do not give to children or
adolescents under 18 years of age.
- Do not use for more than 10 days.
- Do not take more than the leaflet
tells you to.
Instructions for use
Pour one sachet into a mug and fill
with 150-200 ml hot (not boiling)
water.
Stir until dissolved (to a clear,
caramel brown colour solution) and
drink. Continued overleaf.

If you take more of this
medicine than you should, talk to
your doctor or qualified healthcare
practitioner or go to the nearest
hospital casualty department
straight away.
If your symptoms worsen, or do
not improve after 10 days, talk to
your doctor.
If you have any further questions
on the use of this medicine, ask
your doctor or qualified healthcare
practitioner.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine
can cause side effects, although not
everybody gets them.
If you get any of these serious
side effects, stop taking this
medicine. See a doctor at once:
Frequency unknown:
• Difficulty in breathing, swelling
of the face, neck, tongue or
throat and rash (severe allergic
reactions).
Other side effects
Very rare (occurs in less than 1 in
10,000 people)
• nausea
• rash
• itching
• chills
• burning or tingling sensation
Frequency is not known:
• unexpected bruising or bleeding,
pale skin, dark urine (symptoms
of anaemia)
• dry mouth
• headache
• numbness
• dizziness
• palpitations
• difficulty in breathing
• runny nose
• stomach ache
• indigestion
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• raised liver enzymes (detected by
a test)
Reporting of side effects
If you get any side effects, talk to
your doctor or qualified healthcare
practitioner. This includes any
possible side effects not listed in
this leaflet. You can also report side
effects directly via the Yellow Card
Scheme at:
www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard

By reporting side effects, you can help
provide more information on the safety of
this medicine.
5. How to store this medicine
- Keep this medicine out of the sight
and reach of children.
- Do not store above 25°C. Store in the
original container.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry
date which is stated on the sachet. The
expiry date refers to the last day of that
month.
- Do not throw away any medicines via
wastewater or household waste.
Ask your pharmacist how to throw away
medicines you no longer use.
These measures will help protect the
environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other
information
What this medicine contains
- Each sachet contains 1.2 g of the
active ingredient extract (as dry
extract) from Isatis root (Isatis
tinctoria L.) (equivalent to 6.37.5 g of Isatis root).
- The other ingredients are
maltodextrin, citric acid anhydrous,
stevia R-A 98%, honey and lemon
flavourings.
What this medicine looks like
and contents of the pack
This medicine is available in packs
of 10,15 or 20 sachets. Each sachet
contains 4 g of brown and white
speckled powder.
Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
