What is Pentrax? Pentrax is a shampoo used to treat scalp
psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis and dandruff. It helps to
reduce scalp itching, irritation, redness, flaking and scaling
and is a mild antiseptic. Pentrax also contains conditioners
that leave hair manageable after washing.
The active ingredient is Fractar 5, an extract of coal tar
equivalent to coal tar 4.3% w/v. Other ingredients are: Dioctyl
sodium sulphosuccinate, laureth 23, polyethylene glycol 8,
sodium lauryl sulphate, cocamide DEA, lauramine oxide,
isopropyl myristate and squalane.
How to use Pentrax: Massage Pentrax into wet hair and scalp.
Lather, rinse and repeat, allowing the lather to remain on the
hair for up to ten minutes before final rinsing. Use at least
twice a week, or as directed by your doctor. Suitable for adults
Warnings: Do not allow Pentrax to come into contact with the
eyes; if it does, rinse thoroughly with water. Pentrax may
cause skin irritation and redness in some people. Do not use
this product if you know you are allergic to, or have reacted to,
other products containing coal tar or any of the ingredients in
Pentrax. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding
before using this product.
If your condition does not improve, gets worse, or if you notice
any other side effects, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
