• This medicine has been prescribed for you. Do not pass it on to others.

1. What Neomycin Eye
Ointment is and what it
isused for
Neomycin Eye Ointment contains
neomycin sulphate which belongs
to a group of medicines known as
aminoglycoside antibiotics, which
are used to treat bacterial infections.
Neomycin Eye Ointment is used to
treat bacterial infections of the eye
such as conjunctivitis and styes
(collection of pus in a small sac of
the eyelash), and to prevent
infection if you have suffered an
injury to your eye.

2. Before you use Neomycin
Eye Ointment
Do not use Neomycin Eye
Ointment if:
• you are allergic to Neomycin
Sulphate or to any of the other
ingredients of this medicine,
listed in section 6 of this leaflet
• you are allergic to medicines
similar to Neomycin Eye
Ointment (aminoglycoside
If any of the above apply to you or
your child please tell your doctor or
pharmacist before you start taking
Neomycin Eye Ointment.
Take special care with Neomycin
Eye Ointment if:
• you have liver or kidney
• you have open wounds
• you wear soft contact lenses.
These should not be worn
during your treatment with
Neomycin Eye Ointment

Take special care when using in
small children or infants, the active
ingredient (Neomycin Sulphate) can
cause hearing loss
If you are unsure about how to use
Neomycin Eye Ointment talk to your

Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist
if you are taking or have recently
taken any other medicines,
including medicines obtained
without a prescription.

This medicine should be avoided if
you are pregnant, trying to become
pregnant or breast-feeding. Ask your
doctor for advice before taking any

Neomycin Eye Ointment can cause
temporary blurring of vision after
application to the eye. Wait until
your vision is clear before driving or
using machines.

3. How to use Neomycin Eye
Always use Neomycin Eye Ointment
exactly as your doctor has told you.
You should check with your doctor
or pharmacist if you are not sure.
How much to use
For adults, the elderly and

Eye Ointment
Keep all medicines out of the reach

Make sure the container is properly
closed after each use.

original container away from direct
light. Store below 25°C.
Do not use Neomycin Eye Ointment
after the expiry date which is stated
on the label. The expiry date refers
to the last day of that month.

after opening.
