Before you use Eczmol:
Do not use if you are allergic to chlorhexidine gluconate or any of the
other ingredients of this medicine.
Warnings and precautions:
• Eczmol may in rare cases cause severe allergic reactions leading to a
drop in blood pressure and even to unconsciousness. Contact your
doctor as soon as possible (see under ‘Possible Side Eﬀects’ for further
• Avoid contact with the ears, eyes or any deep cuts to the head or spine.
Wash out with water if necessary. If any cream gets into the ears, remove
by very careful swabbing.
• This product may be less eﬀective if mixed with soap or detergents.
• Local skin irritation/rashes are more common if you use this product to
treat skin problems on your lower legs (such as ulcers or dry itchy rash).
• If it comes into contact with fabrics, brown stains may develop if you
use bleach to remove it.
• If you swallow this product go to your nearest accident and emergency
department. If a signiﬁcant amount is swallowed, you may experience a
feeling of drunkenness, feeling sick, vomiting, slurred speech,
a staggering walk and drowsiness. Ingestion of larger amounts may
result in stomach upsets and liver damage.
Other medicines and Eczmol
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or
might use any other medicines.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Eczmol may be used during pregnancy and breast feeding. Ask your
doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine when you are
pregnant, think you may be pregnant, are planning to become pregnant,
or are breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines
Eczmol should not aﬀect your ability to drive or use machinery.
Possible Side Eﬀects:
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side eﬀects, although not
everybody gets them.
Serious side eﬀects
If you experience any of the following reactions stop using Eczmol and
seek immediate medical help: Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat;
a red itchy skin rash; wheezing or diﬃculty breathing; feeling faint and
dizzy; a strange metallic taste in the mouth; collapse. You may be having
an allergic reaction.
Other side eﬀects
If you develop a rash, your skin becomes itchy, red, dry, inﬂamed or
develops wheals, hives or blisters where you have used the product, stop
using it and talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Reporting of side eﬀects
If you get any side eﬀects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
This includes any possible side eﬀects not listed in this leaﬂet.

Repeat as often as required.
For use as a soap substitute – use in place of an ordinary
soap or shower gel. Ensure the water is warm but not too
hot as this can remove your skin’s natural oils. Pat dry with
a soft towel after washing. Avoid rubbing too much as this
can make dry skin conditions worse.
This product contains cetostearyl alcohol which may
cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Store below 30°C.

medicine because it contains important information for
Uses: Eczmol is a moisturising and antimicrobial
emollient cream, which can also be used as an
alternative to soap. It forms a protective barrier on the
skin and helps to retain moisture in deeper layers of the
skin. This helps to prevent and treat dryness and itching
which are common problems for people with eczema and
dry skin conditions.
The active ingredient, chlorhexidine gluconate, is an
antimicrobial which helps combat germs on the skin that
make certain types of eczema worse.
Directions for use:
Do not use if tamper evident collar is broken or missing
at ﬁrst use. Prime the pump before ﬁrst use by
depressing fully until cream appears. If the pump stops
working do not dismantle the pack. Re-start by covering
the nozzle, then fully depress the pump several times to

Adults, the elderly, infants and children:
For application to the skin – apply the cream to the
aﬀected area and massage into the skin until absorbed.

How to Store Eczmol:
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the
label. Store below 30°C.
Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use.
These measures will help protect the environment.
