Important information about Dermidex
• This medicine treats cuts, scratches, grazes,
skin reactions, bites and stings when applied
to the skin.
• It can be used on adults, the elderly and
children over 4 years.
Do not use….
• On children under 4 years.
Now read the rest of the leaflet before you
use this medicine. It includes other
information which might be especially
important for you.
• Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it
again.
• Ask your pharmacist if you need any more
information or advice.
• If any of the side effects gets serious, or if
you notice any side effects not listed in this
leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

1. What the medicine is for
Dermidex is a cream which contains lidocaine,
a local anaesthetic, chlorobutanol and cetrimide
which are antiseptics and Alcloxa to soothe
and relieve irritation.
It is used to treat mild pain caused by minor
cuts, scratches and grazes.
It also relieves the soreness caused by reaction
to detergents, soaps, deodorants and jewellery.
Dermidex can be used to relieve the pain of
bites and stings.

2. Before you use this
medicine
Do not use the medicine if you or
your child have ….
• An allergy to any of the ingredients listed in
section 6.
• An allergy to other local anaesthetics.
• Or on a child under 4 years old.

Talk to your doctor if you or your
child have….

• S y m p to m s th at h av e n o t clear ed u p after
using the cream for 7 days.

Pregnant or breastfeeding….

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before
using this medicine if you are pregnant, might
be pregnant or are breastfeeding.
Lidocaine, one of the active ingredients, can be
absorbed through the skin and pass into breast
milk.

3. How to use this medicine
Apply it to the skin.

Adults, the elderly and children
over 4 years

• Apply a small amount to the affected area and
rub in gently.
• Apply every 3 hours to the affected area.
• Avoid contact with eyes.
• Wash hands well after use.

Children under 4 years

Do not use on children under 4 unless your
doctor tells you to.
FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.
If your symptoms worsen or have not improved
after 7 days of treatment, you should ask your
doctor for advice.

If you swallow some

If you accidentally swallow some, see a doctor
straight away. Take the pack with you to show
which medicine you have swallowed.

• This product contains cetyl alcohol and
stearyl alcohol which may cause local skin
reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).

Like all medicines, Dermidex can have side
effects, although these don’t affect everyone.
• Temporary skin reactions such as redness, a
burning sensation and rashes may occur.

What is in this medicine

If you notice this or any other side effect not
included above, stop use and tell your doctor or
pharmacist. They will tell you what to do.

5. Storing this medicine
• Keep it out of the reach and sight of children.
• There are no special conditions for storing
this medicine.
• Do not use after the expiry date shown on the
carton. The expiry date refers to the last day
of that month.
• Medicine should not be disposed of via
wastewater or household waste. Ask your
pharmacist how to dispose of any unused
medicine. These measures will help to protect
the environment.

The active ingredients are: lidocaine 1.2% w/w,
Alcloxa 0.25% w/w, chlorobutanol 1% w/w and
cetrimide 0.5% w/w.
The other ingredients are: cetyl alcohol,
glyceryl monostearate, isopropyl myristate,
light liquid paraffin, purified water,
phenoxyethanol, sorbitol solution, stearyl
alcohol, perfume.

What the medicine looks like

Dermidex is a white cream which has a light
fragrance.
It is supplied in 30g or 50g tubes.
