Statement from Roche Canada re: Supply of Tamiflu (oseltamivir)
MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 29 /CNW/ - In light of recent global developments about Swine Flu, and the World Health Organization's (WHO) decision to raise the pandemic alert to phase 4, Roche Canada is diligently working with Canada's federal and provincial governments to address their potential need for additional supplies of Tamiflu. We are also working with Canadian hospitals to assess their needs for Tamiflu. These ongoing discussions are intended to help us advocate for the needs of Canadian governments and hospitals with our global manufacturing colleagues, and will help us to continue to make every effort to satisfy Canadian government and hospital requests for Tamiflu. While we understand there is increased public demand for the product, Roche supports government's position on the appropriate use of anti-virals and we remain focused on prioritizing government and hospital needs. For many years, Roche Canada has taken a proactive and responsible approach in collaborating with government on their anti-viral stockpiling activities. We will continue to proactively communicate with government and hospitals.
