Health Tip: What May Trigger Angina Pain?
-- Angina is the term for chest pain that occurs when a portion of the heart isn't getting enough oxygenated blood.
The National Heart Lung and Blood Institute says the following triggers may be behind angina pain:
- Coronary heart disease.
- A blood clot.
- Extremely hot or cold weather.
- Emotional stress.
- Smoking or using cocaine.
- Medications that cause narrowing of the blood vessels.
- Insufficient blood flow to the small arteries feeding the heart.
