Health Tip: Driving an Unfamiliar Route

-- Driving in unfamiliar territory triggers distractions that may take your mind off of road safety.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association advises:

  • Before you start your trip, look at the map and review your route. If you are using a GPS, pull over to use is safely.
  • If you miss your turn, avoid a sudden turnaround. Continue driving until you're able to safely change direction.
  • Always use a turn signal when it's time to change lanes or turn. Look carefully to make sure it is safe to do so.
