Is prednisone a steroid drug?

Prednisone is known as a corticosteroid. Common brand names of prednisone include Rayos, Sterapred, and Sterapred DS. Prednisone prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation and pain. It also suppresses the immune system.

Examples of conditions that prednisone is used in includes: asthma, multiple sclerosis, acute arthritis pain, allergic reactions, lupus and skin conditions.
