- encorafenib
- vilazodone
Interactions between your drugs
vilazodone encorafenib
Applies to: vilazodone, encorafenib
Consumer information for this interaction is not currently available.
ADJUST DOSE: Coadministration with potent inducers of CYP450 3A4 may decrease the plasma concentrations and pharmacologic effects of vilazodone, which is primarily metabolized by the isoenzyme. According to the product labeling, concomitant use of vilazodone with potent CYP450 3A4 inducers such as carbamazepine can decrease vilazodone systemic exposure by approximately 45%.
MANAGEMENT: The possibility of diminished therapeutic response to vilazodone should be considered during coadministration with potent CYP450 3A4 inducers such as carbamazepine, enzalutamide, phenobarbital, phenytoin, and rifampin. When concomitant use is prescribed for greater than 14 days, an increase in the vilazodone dosage up to 2-fold may be considered depending on clinical response, up to a maximum of 80 mg daily. Following discontinuation of the CYP450 3A4 inducer, the dosage of vilazodone should be returned to the original level in 14 days.
Drug and food interactions
encorafenib food
Applies to: encorafenib
You should preferably avoid consumption of grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking encorafenib. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice can significantly increase the blood levels of encorafenib. This may increase the risk of serious side effects such as bleeding complications, eye and vision problems, liver problems, irregular heart rhythm, and development of new skin cancers. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
vilazodone food
Applies to: vilazodone
Do not drink alcohol while you are taking vilazodone. It can increase some of the side effects including dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Food significantly increases the absorption of vilazodone. You should take vilazodone with a meal, preferably at the same time each day. Taking it on an empty stomach may lead to inadequate blood levels and reduced effectiveness of the medication. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
Therapeutic duplication warnings
No duplication warnings were found for your selected drugs.
Therapeutic duplication warnings are only returned when drugs within the same group exceed the recommended therapeutic duplication maximum.
Drug Interaction Classification
| Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit. | |
| Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances. | |
| Minimally clinically significant. Minimize risk; assess risk and consider an alternative drug, take steps to circumvent the interaction risk and/or institute a monitoring plan. | |
