Drug Interaction Report
2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- mexiletine
- nebivolol / valsartan
Interactions between your drugs
mexiletine nebivolol
Applies to: mexiletine, nebivolol / valsartan
Talk to your doctor before using mexiletine together with nebivolol. Both of these medications can slow your heart rate, and combining them may increase the effects. Excessive slowing of your heart rate can lead to serious or life-threatening cardiac complications including heart block and heart failure. Contact your doctor if you develop dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, chest pain, or heart palpitations during treatment with these medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food/lifestyle interactions
valsartan food/lifestyle
Applies to: nebivolol / valsartan
If you are taking valsartan you should avoid potassium-containing salt substitutes or over-the-counter potassium supplements without first talking to your doctor. This can cause high levels of potassium in your blood. High levels of potassium can cause weakness, irregular heartbeat, confusion, tingling of the extremities, or feelings of heaviness in the legs. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these symptoms.
