Jazz Pharmaceuticals has Erwinaze available. The company requests that Erwinaze only be ordered for patients who are currently undergoing treatment or initiating treatment.
Safety

Jazz Pharmaceuticals has sent a Dear Health Care Provider letter regarding the administration of one batch of Erwinaze (Batch 178K). Particulate matter was seen in several vials from this batch during routine inspections. These were not used but there may be potential for other vials to have particles. In order to not have to recall the medication, Jazz is stating that this batch must be given intramuscularly only and NOT intravenously. Also, 5-micron filter needles are to be used when withdrawing Erwinaze from vials.
