Using thalidomide together with zoledronic acid may increase your risk of developing kidney problems. Symptoms of kidney damage include swelling, weight gain, feeling short of breath, drowsiness, confusion, mood changes, increased thirst, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, pain in your lower back, and urinating more or less than usual or not at all. If you take both medications together, tell your doctor if you have any of these symptoms. You may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely use these medications together. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of thalidomide such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with thalidomide. Do not use more than the recommended dose of thalidomide, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
