Interactions between your drugs

Moderate

hyoscyamine nebivolol

Applies to: MSP-Blu (hyoscyamine / methenamine / methylene blue / phenyl salicylate) and nebivolol / valsartan

Using hyoscyamine together with nebivolol may alter the effects of both medications. Contact your doctor if you experience drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, confusion, blurred vision, dry mouth, or difficulty urinating. You may need a dose adjustment or need your blood pressure checked more often to safely use both medications. You should avoid activities requiring mental alertness until you know how the medications will affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Moderate

phenyl salicylate valsartan

Applies to: MSP-Blu (hyoscyamine / methenamine / methylene blue / phenyl salicylate) and nebivolol / valsartan

Talk to your doctor before using valsartan together with phenyl salicylate. Combining these medications may reduce the effects of valsartan in lowering blood pressure. In addition, these medications may affect your kidney function, especially when they are used together frequently or chronically. You are more likely to develop impaired kidney function during treatment with these medications if you are also using a diuretic ("water pill") or if you are elderly or have preexisting kidney disease. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if you experience signs and symptoms that may suggest kidney damage such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, increased or decreased urination, sudden weight gain or weight loss, fluid retention, swelling, shortness of breath, muscle cramps, tiredness, weakness, dizziness, confusion, and irregular heart rhythm. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Moderate

valsartan nebivolol

Applies to: nebivolol / valsartan and nebivolol / valsartan

If you are receiving valsartan and nebivolol together with a medication called an ACE inhibitor, you should talk to your doctor to make sure this treatment is appropriate for your condition. When used in the treatment of heart failure, this three drug combination has been associated with increased side effects and an increased rate of death. The reason for this is not clear. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Drug and food interactions

Moderate

valsartan food

Applies to: nebivolol / valsartan

If you are taking valsartan you should avoid potassium-containing salt substitutes or over-the-counter potassium supplements without first talking to your doctor. This can cause high levels of potassium in your blood. High levels of potassium can cause weakness, irregular heartbeat, confusion, tingling of the extremities, or feelings of heaviness in the legs. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these symptoms.

Moderate

hyoscyamine food

Applies to: MSP-Blu (hyoscyamine / methenamine / methylene blue / phenyl salicylate)

Ask your doctor before using hyoscyamine together with ethanol. Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking hyoscyamine. You should be warned not to exceed recommended dosages and to avoid activities requiring mental alertness. If your doctor prescribes these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment to safely take this combination. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
