Drug Interactions between ibuprofen / phenylephrine and nadolol
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- ibuprofen/phenylephrine
- nadolol
Interactions between your drugs
ibuprofen nadolol
Applies to: ibuprofen / phenylephrine and nadolol
If you use nadolol for the treatment of high blood pressure, talk to your doctor before using it together with ibuprofen. Combining these medications may reduce the effects of nadolol in lowering your blood pressure, especially if you use ibuprofen frequently or regularly (for example, to treat arthritis or chronic pain). You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
nadolol phenylephrine
Applies to: nadolol and ibuprofen / phenylephrine
Using phenylephrine together with a beta-blocker like nadolol may lead to an increase in blood pressure. Some beta-blockers may enhance the effects of phenylephrine, which can lead to constriction of your blood vessels and an increase in blood pressure. Contact your doctor if your condition changes. You may need a dose adjustment or your blood pressure checked more often if you use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
nadolol food
Applies to: nadolol
Green tea may decrease the blood levels and effects of nadolol. You should avoid or limit the consumption of green tea and green tea extracts during treatment with nadolol. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
ibuprofen food
Applies to: ibuprofen / phenylephrine
Ask your doctor before using ibuprofen together with ethanol. Do not drink alcohol while taking ibuprofen. Alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding caused by ibuprofen. Call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. This includes black, bloody, or tarry stools, or coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
nadolol food
Applies to: nadolol
Nadolol and ethanol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. These side effects are most likely to be seen at the beginning of treatment, following a dose increase, or when treatment is restarted after an interruption. Let your doctor know if you develop these symptoms and they do not go away after a few days or they become troublesome. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
nadolol food
Applies to: nadolol
Using nadolol together with multivitamin with minerals may decrease the effects of nadolol. Separate the administration times of nadolol and multivitamin with minerals by at least 2 hours. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
phenylephrine food
Applies to: ibuprofen / phenylephrine
Consumer information for this interaction is not currently available.
MONITOR: Coadministration of two or more sympathomimetic agents may increase the risk of adverse effects such as nervousness, irritability, and increased heart rate. Central nervous system (CNS) stimulants, particularly amphetamines, can potentiate the adrenergic response to vasopressors and other sympathomimetic agents. Additive increases in blood pressure and heart rate may occur due to enhanced peripheral sympathetic activity.
MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if two or more sympathomimetic agents are coadministered. Pulse and blood pressure should be closely monitored.
