Drug Interactions between elvitegravir and sucralfate
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- elvitegravir
- sucralfate
Interactions between your drugs
sucralfate elvitegravir
Applies to: sucralfate and elvitegravir
Sucralfate may decrease the absorption and blood levels of elvitegravir when taken at the same time. Therefore, sucralfate should be taken at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after you take elvitegravir. Consult with your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
sucralfate food
Applies to: sucralfate
When sucralfate is given with enteral (tube) feedings, the feeding tube may become clogged and/or sucralfate may not work as well. You could interrupt the feeding for 1 hour before and after the sucralfate dose. However, this still may not entirely avoid the interaction and may not always be feasible. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
elvitegravir food
Applies to: elvitegravir
Food significantly increases the absorption of elvitegravir. You should take each dose of elvitegravir with a meal. Taking it on an empty stomach may lead to inadequate blood levels and reduced effectiveness of the medication in treating HIV infection.
