Before taking digoxin, tell your doctor if you also use telmisartan. You may need dose adjustments or special tests in order to safely take both medications together. This combination may increase digoxin levels. You should notify your doctor if you have symptoms of nausea, loss of appetite, visual changes, slow pulse, or irregular heartbeats. If you are taking telmisartan you should avoid potassium-containing salt substitutes or over-the-counter potassium supplements without first talking to your doctor. This can cause high levels of potassium in your blood. High levels of potassium can cause weakness, irregular heartbeat, confusion, tingling of the extremities, or feelings of heaviness in the legs. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these symptoms.
