This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- Ascomp with Codeine (aspirin/butalbital/caffeine/codeine)
- repotrectinib
Interactions between your drugs
codeine butalbital
Applies to: Ascomp with Codeine (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine / codeine) and Ascomp with Codeine (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine / codeine)
Using narcotic pain or cough medications together with other medications that also cause central nervous system depression can lead to serious side effects including profound sedation, respiratory distress, coma, and even death. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. Do not drink alcohol or self-medicate with these medications without your doctor's approval, and do not exceed the doses or frequency and duration of use prescribed by your doctor. Also, because these medications may cause dizziness, drowsiness, difficulty concentrating, and impairment in judgment, reaction speed and motor coordination, you should avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how they affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
codeine repotrectinib
Applies to: Ascomp with Codeine (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine / codeine) and repotrectinib
Repotrectinib may reduce the blood levels of codeine, which may make codeine less effective in treating your condition. Additionally, if you have been receiving treatment with codeine, adding repotrectinib may cause you to experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms such as excessive sweating, chills, flushing, restlessness, irritability, anxiety, tremor, rapid heartbeat and nausea. On the other hand, if you have been receiving both medications, suddenly discontinuing repotrectinib may increase the blood levels of codeine, which could increase or prolong its adverse effects. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
butalbital repotrectinib
Applies to: Ascomp with Codeine (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine / codeine) and repotrectinib
Butalbital may reduce the blood levels of repotrectinib, which may make the medication less effective in some cases. Contact your doctor if your symptoms worsen or your condition changes. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
aspirin caffeine
Applies to: Ascomp with Codeine (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine / codeine) and Ascomp with Codeine (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine / codeine)
Information for this minor interaction is available on the professional version.
Drug and food interactions
repotrectinib food
Applies to: repotrectinib
Consumption of grapefruit, grapefruit juice, and supplements that contain grapefruit should be avoided during treatment with repotrectinib as they may increase the blood levels of repotrectinib. This may increase the risk and/or severity of side effects such as dizziness, tiredness, muscle pain, nausea, change in your sense of taste, feeling numbness or tingling in your arms or legs, constipation, trouble with balance, shortness of breath, problems with thinking such as forgetfulness or confusion and hallucinations, as well as more serious side effects such severe or life-threatening inflammation of the lungs and liver injury. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to provide alternatives that do not interact. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
butalbital food
Applies to: Ascomp with Codeine (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine / codeine)
Ask your doctor before using butalbital together with ethanol (alcohol), this can add to dizziness, drowsiness and other side effects of butalbital. Be careful if you drive or do activities that require you to be awake and alert. Talk with your doctor before using any medications together, or drinking alcohol with butalbital. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
codeine food
Applies to: Ascomp with Codeine (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine / codeine)
Do not use alcohol or medications that contain alcohol while you are receiving treatment with codeine. This may increase nervous system side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, difficulty concentrating, and impairment in thinking and judgment. In severe cases, low blood pressure, respiratory distress, fainting, coma, or even death may occur. With certain long-acting formulations of narcotic pain medication, consumption of alcohol may also cause rapid release of the drug, resulting in high blood levels that may be potentially lethal. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions on how to take this or other medications you are prescribed. Do not use more than the recommended dose of codeine, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medication without first talking to your doctor.
aspirin food
Applies to: Ascomp with Codeine (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine / codeine)
Ask your doctor before using aspirin together with ethanol (alcohol). Do not drink alcohol while taking aspirin. Alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding caused by aspirin. Call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. This includes black, bloody, or tarry stools, or coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
