Interactions between your drugs

Moderate

salsalate entecavir

Applies to: Argesic-SA (salsalate) and Baraclude (entecavir)

Salsalate can affect kidney function and may increase the blood levels and effects of entecavir when used together. Contact your doctor if you experience increased side effects or your condition changes. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. You should seek immediate medical attention if you experience extreme tiredness or weakness, dizziness, lightheadedness, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and/or a fast or irregular heart beat, as these may be signs and symptoms of a serious medical condition known as lactic acidosis that can sometimes occur during treatment with medications like entecavir. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Drug and food interactions

Moderate

entecavir food

Applies to: Baraclude (entecavir)

You may experience reduced absorption of entecavir in the presence of food. Take entecavir on an empty stomach 2 hours before or 2 hours after a meal unless otherwise directed by your doctor. This will make it easier for your body to absorb the medication. It is important to take entecavir regularly to get the most benefit.

Ask your doctor before using salsalate together with ethanol. Do not drink alcohol while taking salsalate. Alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding caused by salsalate. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
