Applies to: Agenerase (amprenavir) and Zortress (everolimus)

Using everolimus together with amprenavir is not recommended. Combining these medications can significantly increase the blood levels of everolimus, which may make you more likely to develop serious side effects such as pneumonitis (inflammation of the lungs), infection, mouth ulcers, anemia, or bleeding. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Amprenavir can be taken with or without food. Avoid taking with a high-fat meal, which can make it harder for your body to absorb amprenavir. Take amprenavir with a full glass (8 ounces) of water. Do not switch from amprenavir capsules to oral liquid without your doctor's advice. Make sure you receive the right form of this medication each time you get your prescription filled.

Grapefruit juice can increase the blood levels and effects of everolimus. You should not drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruits during your treatment with everolimus. Orange juice is not expected to interact.
