What are Probiotics
Probiotics are live microorganisms (called 'good bacteria') taken orally to treat disturbance in normal flora. Disturbance of normal microflora can cause disease such as diarrhea, yeast infections or atopic diseases. Probiotics are taken as dietary supplements or consumed in food such as yogurt, which has added active live cultures. Probiotics improve the intestinal and urogenital microflora and prevent disease causing bacteria or fungi to proliferate.
