Major

Monoctanoin (applies to Moctanin) duodenal ulcer

Major Potential Hazard, High plausibility. Applicable conditions: Peptic Ulcer

The use of monoctanoin is contraindicated in patients with a history of duodenal ulcer. Monoctanoin may cause duodenal erosion and inflammatory cell infiltration. Multiple duodenal ulcerations adjacent to the infusion catheter were observed in one patient. Abdominal pain that occurs and is not tolerated is an indication to hold or discontinue monoctanoin.
