Wilbrand knee

Definition: erroneous anatomic concept postulating that a bundle of inferior nasal optic nerve fibers that subserve the superior temporal visual field and cross in the anterior optic chiasm and then briefly enter the contralateral posterior optic nerve before proceeding into the contralateral optic tract. This is now known to be an artifact of retinal degeneration and does not represent a condition found in normal anatomy.
