Wheeler-Johnson test

Pronunciation: wel'er jon'son

Definition: a qualitative test for the pyrimidine bases cytosine and uracil, which produces a green coloration when the sample is treated with bromine water. The addition of barium hydroxide will turn the liquid purple.
