Definition: A mixture of alkaloids from the seeds of Schoenocaulon officinale (Sabadilla officinarum) (family Liliaceae), including cevine, cevadine, cevadilline, sabadine, and veratridine; a powder of acrid taste, intensely irritating to the nasal mucous membrane, that has been used as an anodyne counterirritant in neuralgias and arthritis.
