Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis virus
Definition: a group A arbovirus of the genus Alphavirus, family Togaviridae, occurring in Venezuela and several other South American countries, in Panama and Trinidad, and occasionally the U.S. causing Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis in horses and humans; it seems to be more viscerotropic than neurotropic; the virus is transmitted by Culex mosquitoes.
