trunks of brachial plexus
Definition: the superior, middle, and inferior trunks; formed by spinal nerves C5–T1; as they pass into the axilla, each trunk separates into an anterior and posterior division; fibers in these six divisions then regroup to form the lateral, medial, and posterior cords.
