Definition: division or section of a sensory root of the fifth cranial nerve, accomplished through a subtemporal (Frazier-Spiller operation), suboccipital (Dandy operation), or transtentorial approach.

Synonym(s): retrogasserian neurectomy, retrogasserian neurotomy
