Pronunciation: ther'mo-kup'el

Definition: A device for measuring slight changes in temperature, consisting of two wires of different metals, one wire being kept at a certain low temperature, the other in the tissue or other material whose temperature is to be measured; a thermoelectric current is set up that is measured by a potentiometer.
