thalamic syndrome

 

Definition: a syndrome produced by infarction of the posteroinferior thalamus causing transient hemiparesis, severe loss of superficial and deep sensation with preservation of crude pain in the hypalgic limbs that frequently have vasomotor or trophic disturbances.

Synonym(s): Dejerine-Roussy syndrome
