tendinous intersections of rectus abdominis

 

Definition: usually three but occasionally four transverse fibrous bands or partial bands occurring at intervals as interruptions of the fleshy, contractile portions of the rectus abdominis muscle; they usually occur at and superior to the umbilicus.
