Definition: an inconstant muscle of the urogenital triangle; origin, ramus of ischium; insertion, central tendon of perineum acting with other perineal muscles to resist increased intrapelvic pressure; action, draws back and fixes the central tendon of the perineum; nerve supply, pudendal (perineal).
