steroid monooxygenases

 

Definition: enzymes catalyzing addition of hydroxyl groups to the steroid rings using O2; differentiated into, for example, steroid 11ß-monooxygenase, steroid 17a-monooxygenase, and steroid 21-monooxygenase, in accordance with the position of the catalytically introduced hydroxyl group.
