spongioblast

Pronunciation: spun'je-o-blast'

Definition: A neuroepithelial, filiform ependymal cell extending across the entire thickness of the wall of the brain or spinal cord, from the internal to the external limiting membrane; spongioblasts become neuroglial and ependymal cells.
