spinal ganglion

 

Definition: the ganglion of the posterior (dorsal) root of each spinal segmental nerve (commonly with the exception of the first cervical spinal nerve); contains the cell bodies of the pseudounipolar primary sensory neurons the peripheral axonal branches of which become part of the mixed segmental nerve, whereas its central axonal branches enter the spinal cord as a component of the sensory posterior root.
