silicoproteinosis

Pronunciation: sil'i-ko-pro'te-i-no'sis

Definition: An acute pulmonary disorder, radiographically and histologically similar to pulmonary alveolar proteinosis, resulting from relatively short exposure to high concentrations of silica dust; pulmonary symptoms are of rapid onset and the condition is invariably fatal.
