Definition: T. listing target cholesterol levels stratified by gender, age, and other cardiovascular risk factors as guide to initiate anticholesterol therapy in patients who are at an increased risk for cardiovascular events (=3% per year). The table has become obsolete with the publication of the 2014 guidelines by the Adult Treatment Panel of the National Cholesterol Education Program, which recommends guiding anticholesterol therapy according to calculated cardiovascular risk, not specific cholesterol levels.
