Definition: superficial medial hamstring muscle of posterior (flexor) compartment of thigh; origin, ischial tuberosity; insertion, medial surface of the upper fourth of shaft of tibia; action, extends thigh, flexes leg and rotates it medially; nerve supply, tibial.
