semi-Fowler position

Pronunciation: fowl'er

Definition: an inclined position obtained by raising the head of the bed 25–40 cm, flexing the hips, and placing a support under the knees so that they are bent at approximately 90°, thereby allowing fluid in the abdominal cavity to collect in the pelvis.
