Schultz-Dale reaction

Pronunciation: shults dal

Definition: the contraction of an excised intestinal loop (Schultz) or of an excised strip of virginal uterus (Dale) from a sensitized animal (guinea pig) that occurs when the tissue is exposed to the specific antigen.
