Pronunciation: re-tik'yu-lo-sit'

Definition: A young red blood cell containing a basophilic cytoplasmic network precipitated by brilliant cresyl blue representing residual polyribosomes; such cells become more numerous during the process of active blood regeneration.

Synonym(s): reticulated corpuscle, skein cell
