Definition: a thiamin-pyrophosphate–dependent carboxylase of yeast catalyzing decarboxylation of a 2-oxoacid (pyruvate) to an aldehyde (acetaldehyde) without oxidoreduction and without lipoamide, in contrast to pyruvate dehydrogenase (lipoamide).
