Definition: an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of a pyrimidine-nucleoside 5'-monophosphate to produce orthophosphate and the pyrimidine nucleoside; a deficiency of this enzyme results in accumulation of pyrimidine nucleotides leading to hemolytic anemia.
