pterygoid hamulus

 

Definition: the inferior, hook-shaped extremity of the medial plate of the pterygoid process, which serves as a pulley (trochlea) for the tendon of the tensor veli palati muscle.

Synonym(s): hamular process of sphenoid bone, hamulus pterygoideus
