Pronunciation: pol'e-plaks

Definition: A sucking louse (order Anoplura) of rats and mice. The species Polyplax serratus (the mouse louse) has been shown experimentally to be capable of transmitting tularemia and may also be a vector for murine typhus and Trypanosoma lewisi.
